Sunday evening services

Iona-style service
On the 1st and 3rd Sunday of each month at 5.00pm in the church we meet for a service based on Celtic liturgies and music, involving a combination of simplicity, prayer and times of quietness. There is a focus on being Christ-centred, a heart for social justice and healing that are a feature of the Iona Community.

Praise and Prayer
On the 2nd and 4th Sunday of each month at 5.00pm in Hinks Meadow Community Hall in Taverham we meet for Praise and Prayer – a very informal and lively service, with times of contemporary worship, a discussion time when refreshments are served, a prayer zone and use of visual worship.

Julian meeting
On the 4th Sunday of each month at 6.30pm in the church there is a Julian Meeting – part of the national Julian movement – a half hour of meditative prayer; an oasis in the hurry of life!

We stay after the services for a time to chat and coffee is served.

The pattern each month is:

1st Sunday - all age worship
friendly and informal worship for everyone lasting about 45 minutes with an interactive teaching and worship style

2nd Sunday - more traditional
Eucharistic worship with preaching, intercessions, Bible readings, organ and choir, using the Common Worship liturgy. The children meet at the Rectory for their time of worship.

3rd Sunday - all age Communion
an interactive service with the music group and lively worship. A number of Children at St Edmund’s have been admitted to Communion.

4th Sunday - more traditional
Eucharistic worship with the organ and choir. The children meet at the Rectory for their time of worship.

5th Sunday - more traditional
as the 2nd and 4th Sundays
